Parkinson’s & movement disorders
Assessment of tremor, stiffness and movement.
Understanding the condition
Movement disorders can affect the speed, control or coordination of movement. Parkinson’s disease is one cause, but tremor and stiffness have other possible explanations.
Common signs and symptoms
- Tremor, slow movement or stiffness
- Changes in walking, balance or handwriting
What an assessment may involve
A consultation may review how symptoms began, medicines, daily activities and a detailed examination of movement and balance.
When to seek help
Arrange an assessment for persistent or progressive movement changes. Sudden weakness or loss of balance requires emergency evaluation.
